Letter from Upenyu:

My name is Upenyu Parichi. I come from Chibi. After the death of my parents, no one was taking care of me except my grandfather and grandmother. My grandfather finally died so my grandmother proceeded taking care of me, sending me to school until I completed my primary education. When I was supposed to go to secondary level, my grandmother told me that she was unable to send me to school because of having nowhere to get school fees and being older. Due to my great desire of being educated like my friends, tears were scalding down my cheeks and several thoughts  fluttering in my mind of how to obtain school fees. As a result of experiencing hardships of life, I went to South Africa seeking for a fortune but life in South Africa wasn't easy for me. Severe thoughts of being with my grandmother forced me to return to Zimbabwe. The Zienzele Foundation visited my grandmother and found me absent. When they were about to leave, I finally came home and they were very excited to see me. Since it was my first time meeting them, I was very nervous. After greetings they asked me about my life as well as my desires. I told them and they later told me ‘you must start going to school!' I felt relieved and a thrill of excitement overwhelmed me. They played a vital role in my life. I thank you a lot for your assistance towards my education. Without you my life was headed for severe pain forever and all hopes for future delight in my life were truly going to be in vain. However, since I learnt a lot from experiencing hardships of life (until being lifted up by your grace which is difficult even for me to express) I'm willing to help also those in need after I complete my electrical engineering course at Masvingo Poly Technic.
